POSITION OVERVIEW

The Wastewater Treatment Operator will be responsible for managing the treatment and disposal of waste generated during plating operations, ensuring compliance governing federal, state, and local statutes and laws regarding waste treatment, storage, and disposal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general supervision performs the following:

Operate and maintain waste treatment equipment, including control panel, filtration systems, treatment tanks, pumps, etc. to treat waste generated from plating processes
Monitor and control waste treatment processes, including pH levels, chemical concentrations, flow rates, and temperature, to ensure effective treatment and compliance with regulatory standards
Collect samples of treated wastewater and waste sludge for lab analysis and adjust processes as needed to maintain compliance
Perform routine maintenance such as installation of dry filters, monitoring water levels, lamella cleaning, filter press cleaning, etc.
Ensure pumps and treatment tanks operate properly and proper amount of chemicals are being added
Identify and troubleshoot issues with waste treatment equipment and take appropriate action
Repair or replace pumps, mixers, plumbing, valves and fittings
Coordinate dumpster pick up and drop off with vendors and contact suppliers for service
Maintain accurate records of waste treatment activities such as chemical inventory, floor inspections, chemical usage, water additions, water usage, monthly & daily tasks, spill records, and other required documentation
Reports any unsafe practices, health hazard working conditions, contaminated or abnormal process solution appearance, equipment malfunctions, etc.
Communicates with operator on following or preceding shift any problems encountered during own shift
Handle and manage hazardous chemicals and waste materials safely, including hazardous waste disposal
Performs routine housekeeping of the waste water treatment area and follows safety regulations
Report ay unsafe practices, health hazard working conditions, contaminated or abnormal process solution appearance and equipment malfunction
Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the department
Assists other team members as required
Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Computer Skills: Basic computer entry knowledge
Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, job travelers, and communications
Writing Skills: Ability to write English of a level required for Company shop documents and computer software entry
Mathematical Skills: Basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
Equipment: Plating tanks, hoists, forklifts, pumps, filters, air pumps, electric pumps, hand pumps, rinse containers

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: High school diploma or GED

Certifications/Licenses: None

Experience:

Required: 1 years’ experience, or equivalent skills and knowledge in basic chemical operations or waste treatment experience
Preferred: 2 years’ experience, or equivalent skills and knowledge in chemical operations or waste treatment experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Physical Requirements: This position requires the employee to stand and walk frequently; lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds; finger and wrist dexterity for repetitive motion

Must be able to stand, twist, lift, pinch, walk, bend, kneel and have hand and wrist dexterity. Required to wear PPE (i.e. face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection)

Work Environment: While performing duties of the job, the employee will work in a metal finishing environment. The employee will be exposed to fumes and vapors, high noise exposure. Exposure to chemicals, cold, heat, humidity, dust, fumes, and noise. We provide a regulated, safe/healthy environment for our employees.

ITAR REQUIREMENT

This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.

Monday - Friday 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
